Anybody that knows me even a little bit will confirm that I'm a starter, but not a finisher. My head is always full of ideas and I've usually got 50 things on the go. But I get bored of things before I finish because I've come up with another........ even better idea........ and I just want to get on with it.
Today is no exception. In an earlier post I talked about my COVID-19 blanket. I've wanted to learn how to crochet for about 2 years. So with my new spare time I taught myself and started the blanket. It's taken me hours and hours. Thing is I want to do some other stuff, but the darn thing will just not finish.
I'm probably about 4 hours away from getting it done and dusted - but instead of knuckling down - I've spent most of today procrastinating. I've filled in forms for my son's new school in September, I've played endless games on my iPad, I've done a bit of hoovering, had a nap (procrastination can be exhausting) and watched some tv shopping channels (best thing on telly imo... I digress - that's a post for another time).......
Then I came up with a brilliant idea - I could cut my husband's hair. Now in my family we have a bit of a role reversal. My husband is far from vain, but he does have standards. Whereas, I'd probably happily muck around in a sweatshirt with coffee and toothpaste stains, no makeup and unbrushed hair.
Out of 'the barber has been shut for weeks' desperation my husband agreed. Aware how freaked out he'd be with a bad job I tried really really hard.
I'm actually quite impressed with myself. There was one terrible point where I started giggling because there's no denying I'd actually taken him from fluffy overlong hair to Dwaine Dibley (if you don't know who that is Google it). Spotting me laughing I told him not to panic and did my best to rescue the situation.
End result is not bad, there's one bald spot on the side, but he can ruffle his hair to get rid of that. No honest he can. Apart from that I'm quietly proud of myself.
So flushed with success (and with the blanket the only thing left on the list for today) I went into the bathroom and cut my own hair as well. It's wet at the moment so I'm not sure what it looks like, if it's terrible I'll distract people by making my outside outfit out of binbags and watering cans (or similar).
Then with the blanket once again the last thing on the list I decided to write a blog....... what now.........
I wonder if I could cut that scouring pad out into the shape of a tree or something?......
Oh Actually, I could prepare supper - hooray!
