Smug Smuggity Smug Smug (McSmug)

My son is on half term at the moment. For the first time since he was born I'm actually off at the same time that he is. School always gives them a stretch piece of homework during holidays and half terms. Normally I'm spitting fire because they are not at an age where the project can be done alone. And as I'm working I have to balance a stretch project AND a job.

This half term the requirement was to make an Edwardian character out of a cereal box, newspaper, masking tape and a loo roll (Obvs). My son decided he wanted to do Toad of Toad Hall (Double Obvs).

Now normally with such projects I do it in that space of time when you get in from work and the rice is boiling on the hob. I tape a lolly stick to a loo roll and call it a windmill - job done.

For once I'm in a position where I can actually work through this project alongside him.

So armed with said cereal box and loo roll (plus a Capris Sun Box) we set about this unachievable task.

I have to say I'm chuffed to bits - we actually ended up using one extra loo roll and some felt to finish the whole thing - but I don't think I've been so impressed with myself..... EVER!

Now I'm quite aware that there are many out there who could do better - well good for you! This project was a true partnership between me and my son and I enjoyed every minute (he did the good bits).

The funny thing is that none of the certifications from last week's cerebral moment made me half as proud as this does. If only there was a career in loo roll creativity.
