Desperately seeking positivity

We're meant to be in Menorca this week. Thanks to the virus - we're not, we are where we've been for the last few months. Feel a bit depressed about what we 'could' be doing right now.

However, there were some unexpected (but somewhat expensive positives about this). Firstly on Sunday our Fridge Freezer broke down. It's been threatening to do this for a while - on occasion doing an impression of an aircraft about to take off. I suppose we should be grateful it didn't do this about a month ago.

The new fridge freezer turns up today. I'm half expecting them to refuse to come into the house to deliver - watch this space for a future post if so! Yes, we did double check when we ordered.

We'd just about got rid of the fruit flies, but once the fridge got stanky they all came out of hiding. So we're back to square one there!

For the last few days I've spotted a puddle of water on our main bathroom floor. I assumed it was down to all the hand washing we're doing. Then at 1.00am last night I spotted that the loo brush holder was full of water (yuck), essentially the loo has been leaking into it (double yuck). I spent about an hour desperately trying to find something to collect the water - nothing would fit into the space. About 2.00am I gave the cafetiere a go - it fitted (triple yuck). Needless to say once this is over I'll be purchasing a new cafetiere - not that we use it more than about twice a year - so not a huge rush.

I'm quietly pleased about the fridge freezer as it was beginning to go rusty - the bathroom is frustrating as we were due to have a new one put in over May - but had to cancel due to COVID-19. I suspect we'll be living with what we have for another year now - until I know what's happening with my job. We did at least find an emergency plumber to sort the immediate issues.

But just imagine if we HAD got to Menorca - we'd have no idea that whilst we were away our fridge freezer had defrosted and our loo was leaking. Goodness only knows what we'd have come back to.

So what do the daisy's in the picture have to do with this??? On Saturday I took the big step of going to the local dump. I'd left it as long as possible because I'd heard of the queues. Actually it wasn't too bad - the whole door to door experience was about an hour and a quarter. As I queued to get into the dump I was entertained by a beautiful expanse of wild daisy's - see there's some good in everything......... honest (Polyanna eat your heart out).
