Gosh a lot has happened since I last posted. It's so strange as in the 'normal' it would feel like nothing had happened.
Last week my son started school again - not full time, but 3 days a week. Perfect timing too as I'm not sure whether the whole 'lockdown' thing is getting to him or if it's his teenage hormones kicking in. He's turned into the incredible hulk. His bedroom door has been slammed so many times in the last week that he's actually broken the plaster on the outside of the door and the doorframe is coming away from the wall.
I haven't pointed this out to my husband, but have agreed with son that we will spend the weekend playing with filler to try to get it sorted. I fear the plaster outside the door is going to be an expensive professional job. I'm trying to remain calm about it as he's normally very good and doesn't break things - I also remember putting my foot through a door when I was only slightly older - when my brother shut me in the downstairs loo and wouldn't let me out.
It's been nice to have the opportunity to be a proper mum dropping my son off at school. He normally goes in on a minibus, but that's not running this term due to COVID-19. It is very strange doing the school run as normally that's what 'others' get to do. I know I'm getting it easy though as there is barely any traffic on the road.
I also went to see my parents - it's my fathers birthday today. They've been in lockdown since before the official lockdown as they are in the 'at risk' group. It was lovely to see them. We were very good and socially distanced throughout the meeting. Only dodgy point was when I needed the loo and had to go to the trees at the end of the garden. Fortunately it's a 'mini wood' (very mini) and so very hidden. Still it will be good for the trees and may even help the badger problem that dad's currently got - they've broken through the back fence 4 times now.
Also I mentioned a friend died earlier in year. I hadn't seen her other half since 2 weeks beforehand when we went over for Sunday lunch. He came over and joined us for a socially distanced walk and bbq.
It feels like the last week has been a whirlwind, but actually when you look at it not so much has happened. That said I'm locking down heavily for about 14 days now as this weekend there were thousands of people in my area demonstrating. I'm in full support of the cause and terribly sad the demonstration was necessary - I'm just extremely nervous about a reboot of the virus and wish the gathering had been elsewhere.
