It's the little things that make me laugh

This weekend I was supposed to be off for the first of my summer holidays. A lovely week in one of my favourite places - Punta Prima Insotel, Menorca.

There was a resort we used to go to when my son was really little. 4 swimming pools, all inclusive, holiday clubs, cocktails, aqua aerobics etc. etc. It's not something we'd ever have considered until we had a kid. Whilst we were never explorers we were much more 'different place each time', 'off the beaten track', 'live like a local' kinda people.

We decided with a kid we wanted to take the easy approach and I'm actually a huge fan of a holiday package. Our first holiday with a child was Menorca, we were there for my sons first birthday. He got a stomach bug - I spent the entire week in our aparthotel with a crying baby and a mop (I'll save you the detail). Needless to say I also spent a lot of the week crying as well.

So when we were brave enough to go abroad again (about 3 years later) - we were thrilled to discover the amazing resort in Menorca. Perfect with a kid - lovely apartment - somebody else to cook plain rice if the worst happens etc. We did the unthinkable and went back 3 years in a row - once with the Grandparents (perfect resort for ALL ages).

Now he's older we haven't actually been back for a few years, but as he's 12 this year we thought that this would be the last year he'd really get the kiddy enjoyment out of it so booked it again.

We're due to go on Saturday - the holiday's been COVID-19 cancelled. BOOOOOOOO

I'm so disappointed.

We decided to buy ourselves a 6ft paddling pool ('cause obvs that's nearly as good). It did give us one moment of joy though. When we opened the package it came with assembly instructions - just one page and a picture. For some reason this cracked us up and we've spent the week sharing it with the world...... you're next.

My son will be at school next week (we hadn't yet mentioned we were going to take him out for the holiday), my husband has taken 3 days off. Doubtless I'll thrill you with the exciting things we do on our non-holiday. I shall get my knotted hanky ready for a spot of rainbathing - or whatever the South East has in store for us next week.
