Darth Scare

It's fair to say that 2020 has been somewhat surreal. I don't know, but it feels to me as if it's been about 10 years long already. I know this is only the start of things as well. gulp.

I was actually quite pleased to find out that the area I live in was going to have their 'first annual' scarecrow competition this year.

Yes I'm aware that the last few months has been make after make after make. But actually I really enjoy it. I recognise that the things that I make are not necessarily the best in the world (often quite the opposite), but basically they are achieved with minimal budget and I find the planning therapeutic (although not necessarily the making itself).

I made my scarecrow with Son - it's called Darth Scare. Judging is at the weekend. I put it up a bit early as frankly I'm not convinced it will hold up to the wind we have coming off the sea (living half way up a hill by the sea the wind is always a challenge).

Darth Scare was another way of reusing carrier bags. He's basically bin bags stuffed full with carrier bags. Looking at the photograph I notice one thigh is bigger than the other, I know the feeling frankly.

Also we had no budget so I reused the crows from halloween and the mask was from a Darth Vadar Christmas tree we did for the Christmas Tree festival a few years ago.

So keep your fingers crossed the wind doesn't take old Darth Crow out before the weekend - and hopefully he remains throughout August as required.

I'll keep you in the loop.
