Well the weather was changeable this weekend. One minute raining, one minute sunny - but ALWAYS very very windy. A friend came over for supper on Saturday night - we kept it all out in the garden - separate tables and fully socially distanced. The weather was dodgy all day - so we started early at 5.00pm.
We managed to bolt down the food as quickly as possible before it went cold, then sat in the garden to talk. By 7.00pm we all had bobble hats and coats on and at 8.00pm we admitted that if we carried on we'd all get hypothermia. So gave the evening up.
Earlier in the day I'd been out for a walk with the husband of my friend who died earlier this year. It was really lovely to see him. As there couldn't be a proper funeral we decided to do a remembrance service later in the year, with a wake afterwards. When we decided that we thought this whole thing would be over in about 6 weeks. It still doesn't feel like the right time now. Hopefully not too much longer.
My friend is frequently in my mind - she gave my son a light activated fart ninja (yup for real). Don't let this give you the wrong opinion of her, she was extremely ladylike - in fact probably the most ladylike person I know. She did, however, have a wicked sense of humour.
The fart ninja has been in several positions over the last 6 months - originally it was in the room that my son used for home schooling, but he started to panic that the farts would be heard by his classmates and they'd think it was him. It's currently residing in the sitting room - opposite a very busy door - every time somebody walks through the door a massive fart erupts from the ninja. Oddly I like this, because every time it farts I think of my friend. I'm not entirely sure this is how she'd have wanted to be remembered - but this is not a normal year!
My parents also came for a Sunday roast yesterday, again outside and socially distanced. Again in a high wind with grey skies. We did manage it - although again it was a short lived affair. I wonder how we're going to cope as it gets colder. I've been looking at some outside heaters. I think this might be the year to get shares on a company that makes them.
So last week I came up with a logo and I built the website of the company I'm thinking of setting up. I bothered lots of people for opinions of the logo - then woke up a day later realising that I hated it. So I've actually commissioned somebody to do one for me. Not cheap, but worth it I hope. Although if I don't go ahead with the company I guess it's a waste. Anyway, I've seen the first drafts and I'm chuffed to bits.
And now, well I'm actually procrastinating. I've received a letter from HMRC with a URL to a site that's going to tell me all my responsibilities if I proceed with the company. It's amazing how many things I've managed to do not to actually do it - I've emptied the dishwasher, put on a wash and now I'm writing my blog. But to be honest I've got to get on and do it and so for now goodbye.
