We did something normal! (ish)

Today is my wedding anniversary - thanks to parents sending a card I knew this was going to happen (at the very last minute). Husband took day off from work - lovely. Things are still odd out there in the real world, so we were unsure what to do.

Again weather was not too sunny and this time it wasn't raining. We decided to be brave and so as a family we decided to walk to the pitch and putt cafe in Rodean. This was brave because we've literally not eaten out or been anywhere other than a food shop since March. The cafe is about a 30/40 minute walk from us.

As soon as we were far enough from home not to turn back the sun came out - full force. We hadn't put suntan lotion on and all of us were wearing the wrong clothes. However, we managed to get there early enough to get a table outside. The setup there was perfect - I felt really safe. Food ordering was different from normal (very different actually) but I'm so impressed with how they've sorted things out so you can avoid sharing nasties with others.

We had a lovely lunch (picture in the post is our view) and then we wandered back home along the seafront. By the time we were 20 minutes from home I was wilting in the sunshine with a stinking headache. We did a diversion and went through some woods for some welcome shade.

So I'm home now, feeling a little sunburned and have that slightly sleepy feeling you have when you've been out in the sun. Definitely got a bit of sunstroke - my own fault for being unprepared - hope son doesn't get sunburn (guilt, guilt, guilt).

It was really lovely to do something though, not just go for a walk, but go for a walk with a purpose.

Finally, on the subject of going for a walk with a purpose - it's certainly not going to be with a dog. We've been talking about getting another dog for about 2 years (ours died about 7 years ago). I decided that now seemed a good time. Have you seen how much the price of a dog has gone up during the COVID pandemic? You're looking at about £2,000-£3,000 for a dog - are they ABSOLUTELY SURE!!!

I'll be waiting until those prices go back to normal and certainly make sure I'm buying from a registered breeder. I suspect in a year's time there will be a horrific number of rescue dogs when people discover just how hard it is to have a dog. You have to be dedicated and that dedication goes on for about 10-15 years. Seems to me people are trying to make a quick COVID buck. As this is messing with living things - especially dogs - SHAME ON YOU!
