A new high or new low - dunno!

Well I had 2 moments of excitement today - things that just a year ago I'd never have believed would be exciting.

Moment number 1: Back in April when we had the first lockdown, my teeth knew that dentists would shut and one of my fillings promptly fell out. I've not been able to do anything about this, because hygienists have been doing 'stuff' with teeth, but unless it's an emergency the dentists have been staying safe. Which I totally understand.

It's never actually given me any pain and so it's never been an emergency. Every few weeks I've shoved in another temporary filling and it's been doing ok.

Imagine my excitement when I got a text from my dentist today saying I was overdue for an appointment

Yes I really did say imagine my excitement. I suspect I'll feel differently on the day (watch this space)......

Moment number 2: I've been having a nightmare setting up a business bank account for my new business. I was aware that it was taking up to 6 weeks for setup because so many are being set up right now. So about 10 weeks ago I set one up nice and early.

Because I'd heard nothing last week I rang up to see what had happened. No mean feat as wait times on the phone are currently 3 hours. Yup you heard right - 3 hours! When I eventually got through they said that somebody had tried to ring me 3 times and there was no answer so they had closed my account request.

They hadn't left a message - they hadn't emailed or written to me or anything. I was fuming. So essentially - if you go to the loo at the exact moment they call and don't answer - your stuffed!

So I went through the account setup process again and ever since I've hit send my mobile has been with me wherever I am. So yes, if they'd rung me on the loo I'd have answered.

On that point - I do know that loads of people do this anyway - on a number of occasions I've rung somebody only for them to say 'I'll do it in a minute, I'm on the loo right now'. I mean YUCK!! On one occasion it was a colleague from work. Trust me that's a moment I'll never forget - they didn't actually need to tell me where they were - I'd never have known (well unless sound effects let them down). Let's face it you can always tell when you call somebody and they're in the bath.

I'm a bit old fashioned with mobiles - I've never been able to understand why somebody would want to be available 24x7. And when somebody calls you on the phone it's at at a time that's suitable for them. It's rare somebody calls you and it's a time that's convenient for you, well not in my experience anyway.

Oh, I went off on a tangent again didn't I........... well the long and the short of it is that I got the call, my account's been set up.

I feel very grown up - things are coming together with the business. Now I just need to close some business and actually make money - all that's happened so far is that money has gone out.

So maybe not my most exciting blog so far - but somehow they're two of the most exciting things that have happened to me in months.

What a cr*&&y year 2020 has been huh!
