Well as you can see I've gone a bit radical today and have gone for a portrait photo instead of landscape. Life on the edge - I just gotta keep pushing those boundaries!
Today I should be telling you about the great weekend we just had in Berlin. Taking in the sights and shopping and eating at the Christmas Markets. I booked it all last year, it was all planned. I'm not going to tell you about it though because I had to unplan it.
I've mentioned this a couple of times in my blog. It's something I was really excited about - I love Berlin and I love the people. The really rubbish thing is it's not really something I can just re-book when things settle down. It's very much something I wanted to do when the Christmas markets were open. They usually open around 25th November. So that means that I'm going to have to wait for a whole year before we can go again.
Just had a thought though - there's nothing to stop me from actually booking the hotel is there. Hmmm - yup I'll do that in a minute. I'll not be able to get flights until later next year as I doubt they'll be released yet. Doubtless they'll be a lot more expensive next year because I have a feeling that even the cheaper airlines are not going to be cheap next year, so much money has been lost.
I have to admit I'm really sad about the fact we couldn't do Berlin. Far sadder than anything else that's been cancelled this year. It was only ever going to be a long weekend, but I'm far sadder about it than I was about our week in Menorca in June.
I wonder if my lust for travel will change now I'm not in the travel industry any more. I suspect it will be more about the availability of travel than wanting to go and see places. I just have this gut feeling things will look different on the 'other side'. Hopefully I'm wrong.
