I'm quite excited actually.....

Here I am sitting at my 'work from home' desk. Just minutes away from starting my new full-time role. I still don't know if I can afford it, but I am hoping I can. It's a job with a real purpose that can make a huge difference - I hope!

Yesterday my redundancy money came through - that's one worry off my mind. I was praying the company I worked for previously didn't go bust before it came through. That said I think that the travel industry will fly once lockdown ends. Anyway, I've moved all the money into a savings account. I'm also continuing with the company I've been setting up. In many ways this is very empowering. It means that if things don't work out I can walk away with a set up company and enough money to keep me afloat for a while whilst I get the new business.

I'm very nervous. Because I went on furlough on 1st April 2020 it's been a long time since I had a fixed schedule. I've been working full days on my company, but the schedule has been set by myself - most days I dallied around until 9.30/10.00 and then just worked through.

I have a meeting at 08:30 (that's a helluva way to start a new job). So a real baptism of fire, but I'm glad to be included in the meeting.

Only thing that might be slightly complicated today is that husband is really sick. We don't think it's COVID as he doesn't have any of the symptoms, but he's been laid low for about 4 days now. With son home schooling it's going to be a challenge being sparky and fabulous in a new job with all of that going on outside the door. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Much excitement yesterday in England when vast swathes were covered with snow. As ever we didn't get any. We very rarely do. We did for the first 4 years of son's life. The first 4 years when it was impossible to work from home with a child around. Ever since he got old enough for it to be possible it hasn't snowed. We've had about 3 occassions of brief snow and always make the most of it.

On one occassion we got back home at 9.00pm on a dark February night and there was a smattering of snow. We rushed into the house and grabbed lanterns and went out and did some sledging by the light of lanterns. Was actually quite fun. Unfortunately we can't do that now as the hill we used was part of a local school playing field and now they've put up fences so it looks like a prison. I'm not sure whether it's to keep us out - or the kids in! Not that the kids are in school right now.

Anyway, new job starts in 17 minutes. I'd better be off. WISH ME LUCK.
