Well I've had something of a morning!
This weekend was a bit frantic, loads to do, plus a little bit more. On Friday one of sons friends came over - we hadn't seen him in a year. Both were a little worried they still wouldn't get on, but by the time he left my house was trashed, there were about 2,000 nerf bullets scattered around and both boys were smiling.
It's funny how things change, when son was younger there always seemed to be mystery mini packets of Haribot around, even though I never bought any. Now he's older everywhere you look there is a random nerf bullet. Every plant pot has one - there are at least 500 down the side of every sofa when you're looking for the remote control and you even find them sticking out of bushes in the garden.
On the subject of garden I may have found somebody to rebuild our front garden - which is exciting - I just need to get them to turn up so I can talk through what I want. What I want changes daily. This isn't a small thing you understand - our front garden is a full assault course. It's the beginning of the hill my house is built into. The people that lived here before built loads of complex wood structures (horrible not nice), we've lived with these, but now they all rotten and have to go. Doubtless I'll keep you informed.
With very little spare time I mentioned that I've been working on our family scarecrow for the local competition whenever I have 5 minutes. Yesterday I knitted a Harry Potter scarf, sorted out a neck for it so the head would stand up and made Hedwig out of 5 carrier bags (quietly proud of myself about that). Scarecrow is now completely finished.
Woke up this morning to an email to say the competition had been cancelled due to lack of interest. LACK OF INTEREST - have they NO IDEA how much time and effort I put into this. Personally I think they should keep it going just for me. So Scary Potter will go up into a corner in the attic to freak me out every time I go up there. Then he can just come down if/when the competition kicks off again another year.
I have to say COVID has been very disruptive to my creativity. Back in January 2020 I made my Christmas Tree for the Christmas Tree festival 2021 (It's the cheapest way of doing it because you can buy bits of bobs in the post Christmas sales). Needless to say that was cancelled due to COVID - so I already have a Christmas tree waiting for the next festival.
At least when things open up I've got a nice lazy year. I can take part in all the local festivals and competitions and just wheel out my pre-made items. The question is whether things will ever kick off in the same way again.
Husband and I have our 20 year wedding anniversary soon (20 years OMG). Obviously we got married when we were 12 otherwise that would make us REALLY REALLY OLD. We're trying to think of something to do, but keep procrastinating and can't agree. I guarantee that what will happen is absolutely nothing. It's hard to get excited about stuff when you can't do what you really want. Something like Paris or Berlin or Rome etc.
On the subject of travel - I discover that I've had one of the AZ jabs that was produced in India - so currently my double jab doesn't qualify me for European Travel anyway. I am totally P*))ED OFF about this. Hopefully it's sorted soon.
Then suddenly this morning I discover that son can't go to school today because somebody in his year has tested positive. We don't know who, but judging by the mums on WhatsApp that have received emails saying they need to isolate their kids - it's not anybody that son is friends with.
So son is home schooling today - perhaps for the week, we don't know yet. But we've forgotten all home schooling passwords and things so we're all running around like headless chickens.
At least his packed lunch is ready so once I start work there's no need to interrupt me today. Which is lucky because I've a busy day of work ahead with lots of meetings - on which point - my 10 minute rant is up and the clock is about to tick over to worktime.
See you at my next update.
