When no news is good news

I admit to feeling somewhat frowsy this morning. I was thinking back over the week as I had my coffee trying to think about momentous things that had happened.

The answer, I'm pleased to say, is none really. After our last few exhausting years I think that's absolutely amazing news. In fact even this week's photo is one I took a while ago so I had a holding photo on a week when I'd not been anywhere worth taking a photo of. Though that said now I work from home the photos tend not to be significantly different as I tend to spend my life within a 3 mile radius of my house.

It's nice living by the beach in an area with a nature reserve (in fact it's VERY nice), but perhaps if I lived in the centre of town there would be more variety in my photographs.

Yesterday was a particularly lazy day - ruined only by having to take the dog for a walk on a very windy day. I didn't take her to the beach, the wind was high and the tide was too. We went up onto Beacon Hill for a very blustery and not too pleasant walk.

In fact Beacon Hill was the site of the only big excitement of last week. Dog likes to play with other dogs - I really enjoy watching this as our old dog really liked to snarl and snap at other dogs.

She was having an amazing romp with a Labrador up on the hill, as she was half the size of it the Labrador was holding up it's own very well (my dog is somewhat persistent - it's that puppy thing - some dogs hate it and I have to haul her away quickly).

Labrador's owner took a different path to me and was soon out of sight. I anticipated getting towards Ovingdean where our 2 paths would meet up and I could hand her dog back. About 50m from the point where we would be back in sight of each other again Labrador suddenly realised that it's owner wasn't there. It turned and sprinted back the way we'd come.

As a result when I did meet up with owner I had to explain what had happened. I said to owner that I'd wait where we were in case the dog came back and she could retrace her steps.

No sooner was she out of sight again than I saw her dog. So I quickly went over to it and with the help of 4 other dog owners (typical dog owner community) I got the labrador on my dog's lead. I duly went back to the meeting place.

My goodness I had a workout. The Labrador is considerably bigger than mine and had quite a pull on it. Add to that was the fact it was on a lead with somebody it didn't know. And every 2 seconds my dog would leap on it trying to get it to play. It was a somewhat fraught 15 mins as I waited for its owner to turn up.

Needless to say dog and owner back together.

On way back down the hill I bumped into somebody I know and explained the workout I'd just had finding a missing dog on hill. Oh she said is it a small black dog because everybody was looking for her yesterday.

Needless to say - turns out when a friend took her out for a walk the day before he'd lost her and had decided not to tell us! Never underestimate the old bag network. We always find out.

And that was literally the most excitement I had last week. Apart from that I guess I'm just waiting for spring to spring. I don't think it will be long as the trees and bushes are starting to bud and there are signs of crocus.

Exciting - Spring is my favourite time of the year.

Work will hopefully be a bit calmer this week. My goodness I'm ready for a break. I feel absolutely shattered. I think I may see if there are a few days I can take off over half term, but I have a gut feeling my team are taking time off.

There's always so much to be done, but I've got over the hump of quite a few things recently so hopefully the world will not stop turning if I'm not around for a while. Even a couple of days would be good.

Anyway, it's early and I'm tippity tapping away as quickly as I can as work starts in about 15 minutes. Busy day of meetings today (doom), fingers crossed I will then be able to actually get some of my proper job done - I never seem to be able to get to it because of other 'stuff' and too many meetings.

Now things are opening up I'm looking forward to spending some time with my colleagues. Hopefully when there are more people around the endless requirement to be on virtual meetings will start to slow down too.

Watch this space.
