There's something of a heatwave going on. Obviously everybody is thrilled because it gives us something to moan about. Also in true British form - if there's anything other than drizzle everything falls apart.
We don't seem to be able to cope with snow, heavy rain, strong wind - or indeed sunshine! In parts of the country the roads are melting and they are using winter gritters to spray the roads with sand to absorb the melting tarmac!!!!
I'm intrigued to know whether this happens anywhere else in the world - I mean I'd get it if it was somewhere like Abu Dhabi, where the sun is super hot for long periods of time. But this is happening in Hampshire.
Dog is struggling - it's not easy doing a heatwave if you have a mat black fur coat on. Last night a cooling mat turned up for her, but she seems to hate it! It reminds me of when son was a baby and had a terrible temperature and how he'd lock his lips together like a vice so I couldn't give him any Calpol or Neurofen. I'd end up reliving Jerry Maguire and shrieking at him - 'let me help you'.
Madness this morning. Got ready 06:00am to take dog for walk before sun came up.
Then had to cook supper as it's prize giving at son's school tonight.
Then had to find an outfit that wouldn't embarrass son - which is a challenge as I tend to dress down, plus all my reasonable summer clothes are packed!
Found outfit I thought would just about do, but he said he wouldn't be seen with me wearing it. Two outfits later and he's not embarrassed by what I'm wearing.
Then my bottom literally hovered an inch above the sofa when he said 'oh I need to wear my games kit today and take in my uniform... by the way'. At which point I shrieked loudly at him and he had a teenage strop.
Am about to start work and feel like I've done a days work already. Need sleep.
