A very busy weekend

I'm feeling somewhat shattered after the weekend.

Last week I picked up yet another delivery for son - and as with all of the deliveries for 'his' job I end up doing most of it - either alone or along with him.

On Friday a friend came over for supper, after supper he sat down with husband and they watched the World Cup. Son and I cleared the table and then sorted all the leaflets to go with the magazines he needed to deliver.

On Saturday morning I tried to remember what I wear when I'm going out for the day. It's been so long I literally couldn't remember. I managed to cobble together an outfit and then son and I drove to Southwick, where we were due to watch a friend doing an immersive version of Alice in Wonderland.

It was actually very good, he played the Doormouse and was obviously excellent. In fact everybody was really good. Son came along too and was very surprised to see somebody from his school there as well playing the Dutchess.

We arrived a bit early and so had a wander around the shops - I've never actually been to Southwick before - though it's not far from me. I walked past one window, saw something and cracked up laughing.

I went in to see how much it was in the hopes it was less than £5 (that's my cut off for buying things for no reason). Sadly it was £6.99 so over my budget for tut. So I took a photo of it. Sadly it's only me that finds it funny, nobody else seems to get it.

It's a book, to write your passwords in - and to make it even more secure it has PASSWORDS written on the front in huge letters. It really tickled me, but as I say nobody else gets the joke!

After the play I dropped son off with a friend who he was having a sleepover with. After getting home I put the rucksack on my back and started the deliveries of the magazines. I can't believe I'm doing this if I'm honest, I've definitely had enough already. They seem to come through thick and fast.

In the evening we went to Hove to meet up with some old friends for supper. It was amazing to go out and great to see them. We went to a lovely Italian restaurant. It was great to be a grown up and not have to worry about son waiting for us.

Though we couldn't stay out too late as we did have a dog waiting for us. Only the second time she had been left alone in the house. She did better this time, last time we arrived home to three poo's - this time not a single poo or wee (that we've discovered yet).

She was very gleeful when we came home and tortured us with love for about an hour.

Husband and I sat up and watched telly for a while and I ended up going to sleep at 3.00am.

Sunday I woke up with a full belly and a sore head. Son came home about 11.00 and we delivered almost all of the rest of the leaflets. Until my knackered legs gave up basically. I've said before that most of the houses around here have steep drives or steps and it plays havoc with my arthritis (g*d I'm old! - definitely too old for a paper round!).

The difficulty with this delivery in the winter is that there are so few hours of daylight to get it done an it's raining constantly.

As I'm away for work this week I knew if we didn't get it done yesterday it wouldn't get done. It was p'ing down with rain, but oddly very warm - as a result it was too hot for a raincoat. So we were drenched by the time we got home.

Even after giving up delivering because my legs gave up I had to take the dog out for a walk. I have to admit I cheated, I literally couldn't cope with the concept of a walk. So I drove to a local park and threw the ball for her for about 20 mins until she was shattered. I'll try to make it up to her with a decent walk today.

The other thing I had to do was to get the Christmas Tree Festival stuff ready. I've got 2 trees going in - 3 Kings, which I made for the festival pre-Covid and it's been waiting to be used as there hasn't been a festival for years - I've also got one which encourages people to write down what they like about Christmas. Finally this year they are doing table decorations - so I've dusted off a tree topper son and I made about 5 years ago.

I woke up on Monday morning aching and absolutely shattered. I've got endless work to do this week. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday I'm all day meetings. I'm going to have to set off about 6.00am on Tuesday to get to the first one, then staying in a hotel - with a team meal in the evening. Then another full day of meetings on Wednesday.

On Thursday as soon as work is finished I'm heading to the local church to set up my exhibits for the Christmas Tree festival.

I've got a long week ahead of me, wish me luck!
