Plod plod

At the beginning of the pandemic I got overwhelmed by the news and so spent my time listening to pre-pandemic pod casts. It felt like they were better times.

Now we are largely post-pandemic it feels like things are getting steadily worse. So now I am spending my life listening to podcasts recorded during the pandemic. They feel like simpler (though definitely not easier times). I am guessing it's the security of knowing the outcome.

My favourite DJ has been cancelled from LBC. I miss him a lot. He was a moment of current fluff without worrying about too much heavy news. I am not clear on why he was cancelled they haven't said. To be fair it could be a number of reasons because he was quite old fashioned with many views. But though I often disagreed with his views it was easily managed by rolling my eyes. It scares me a bit that the world is so intolerant. Though most of the increasing intolerance is aimed at women.

Strangely I don't feel the new younger generation see this. They are filled with the confidence things have changed. My generation felt the same in the 80s. We were told the world was equal and now women could achieve what they wanted with equality.

So we worked our arses off with our new found equality. Watching men take the majority of management positions. We saw talentless men do well because they were one of the boys. It was made clear that to do well you needed to quash your femininity because it was seen as unprofessional. Whilst being forced to go to conferences to listen to sportsmen tell you about team work in the workplace. With rousing ugging manly clips of team talks.

BOLLOCKS

40 years on and we are in exactly the same place we were back then. With politicians and celebrities saying "You can't judge my behaviour from 20 years ago. Things were different then".

HOW DARE YOU. NO THEY WERE NOT. And how demeaning to my generation that you imply to the new generation that we put up with your behaviour.

WE DID NOT WE WERE FIGHTING LIKE HELL.

So watch out ladies. Notice that every time womankind takes a step forward the news changes the subject to focus on another topic. Read what I have written above and challenge it.

Crikey I needed to get that off my chest!

Not much happened last week. Work is horrible but that's not new news.

On Saturday I did a birthday party for friends and then on Sunday we went to my parents for lunch. Brother and sister in law were there as well. It was lovely to see them all. My wonderful husband was kept busy doing PC support and gorgeous son was in room with us though playing chess on his phone.

Definitely a rant week rather than news week. But perhaps good to release.
