Cold and hot

Very strange weather. It is both cold and hot at the same time! It's very hard to know what to wear.

Spring is taking it's time to settle in. I am opening the window in my study, then shutting, then opening. My preference is for open, but the second I open it wasps fly in.

Last year I had the cunning plan to put a beaded curtain across the window. It didn't work. As soon as the constant sea breeze blew it got knotted and the wasps got in.

So this year I thought I would get a net curtain. The problem is I have a lifelong hatred of them. I managed to find the one in the picture. I don't love it but I don't hate it. If it keeps the wasps out then I will probably learn to love it.

I hate shoes and socks and if I can I go barefoot. Whatever the weather. You may recall in Rome last year I ended up buying a pair if very expensive sandals for blister reasons.

The good thing about them is that they are as close to barefoot as you can get. I went online and found a similar pair at such a good price I got them in blue and black. I wore the black ones once and I have lost one of them. I have looked EVERYWHERE! I could understand losing a pair, but one?

Did I talk about rats before? We have rats in garden, in our walls, garage and attic! Such is the rat problem in the area I had to wait for 3 weeks for somebody to come.

On Monday the rat man came. He put down poison and also showed us how they were getting into walls. There are 2 old pipe holes. We will fill them but we are waiting for the poison to work first. I don't want to block them in.

It's the coronation next week. I am not remotely interested in the Royal family. Its an outdated concept and I am embarrassed by them. Both those in situ and perhaps more so by those who have 'left' but cash in. They all leave me with a sense of distaste. Those that cash in (including those Royals way down the command chain who do adverts and stuff) leave me in furious disgust.

A big part is because of tax avoidance and taking money from others. But even if that didn't happen they would still cash in. The leeches have to go.

Perhaps the greatest example of clawing yourself to the top off the back if others. Disgusting.

We (the Brits) Have been asked to swear allegiance to the King during the coronation. Ha good luck with that!

The house is all decorated as husband has a significant birthday this week. The birthday stars are up and the birthday table cloth is on the table. I have planned loads for him, but I will tell you how it goes afterwards.

The garden has been mown. In the end husband and I did in partnership. A compromise. Not without trauma. First we discovered the extension lead wasn't working so I had to go out to buy one. Then, because the grass was about a foot high the mower went into standby mode because it was under too much strain. However it's all done. Just in time for no mow May. A good excuse to be lazy.l until June.

Today is a Bank Holiday I will do a few hours but overall its a day off day. Whoop!

Anyway that's my rather dull life for this week. Next week I promise something more interesting. Things are afoot!
