Weedy

It's been a quiet week. Again stressful at work, but I've managed to get a week extension on the project and also to get agreement that we can retain data from the old system for six months. These two things make quite a difference to the pressure levels. Though I'm desperate for some time off. I may take a day off this week if I can. I need to sleep.

That's the downside of extending the delivery date. It means the full stop comes later.

As far as the rats are concerned, I haven't seen one for a week now. Mum and Dad came over for lunch yesterday. Last time they came dad was sitting there shouting 'there's another one', every 5 minutes. Not one shout out from him this week. So fingers crossed.

We have one more visit from the rat man - we'll see what he has to say.

The downside of the rattage is that it was on the back patio. The weather has warmed up (a bit) and the house needs a good airing. Unfortunately we don't have windows, just French Doors. There is no way I'm opening French Doors until I know there are no rats around.

Weeds on the back patio (see photo) have grown to about knee high.

On Saturday I put on some wellies (because if rats were going to run at me I wasn't going out there in bare feet) and used about 3 litres of weed killer. Spraying everything. As you can see 2 days later it's made absolutely no difference whatsoever!

Looks like I'm going to have to go out and weed by hand. Something I'm not keen to do because you don't know what's hiding in the weeds!

It's really critical I get the back patio sorted. Husband has always hated it because It's such a mess. Because of the rats we've decided we're going to 'get it done'. Not a small job because the previous owners put wooden steps in and they have totally rotten. As a result we're going to get somebody (hopefully) to dig into the hill and build some brick steps. As well as replace the current patio which is a) hideous, b) broken in many areas. Plus we want a flower bed ripped out and the other raised bed needs to be rebuilt.

PLUS I want to get a couple of walls rendered. All in all not a small job. Before I get anybody in to quote I want to clear up the patio as much as possible so it doesn't look such a huge job. Right now it looks impenetrable.

It's chilly this morning, so whilst I've broken out the summer clothes and the window is open I also have a thick fleece on. I know I'll start moaning as soon as it gets hot, so I'm not going to moan about it not being hot!!!!!!!

Though we could put that down to being terribly British. Never happier than when we have weather to discuss because it means we don't have to focus on the important things! Actually I realise that the weather has been mentioned throughout this post AND I managed to say both that it had warmed up AND that it was cold.

Job well done I'd say. My weather discussion skills have hit new highs.
