Tired before I even begin!

In the end I stayed away from work until Friday. I got a lot of life laundry done - things I hadn't had a chance to do with all the overtime I'd been doing. So cancelled direct debits, arranged a gardener and even had my hair cut.

There are still thousands of things on the list, but at least I got things started. The weekend was hugely busy, but my fault. I didn't know what to get my father for fathers day as he has all that he needs so I spent Saturday in the kitchen making spotted dick, focaccia & a lemon cake for him. Problem is now that he's in his late 80's he doesn't have much of an appetite, so that will keep him going for about a year.

I realised I hadn't got anything for mum and so got up early and went around finding wild flowers and making a bouquet - being very careful just to select non indigenous and things like elderflower (which grows around here like a weed). It looked quite lovely actually - but I forgot to take a picture. I had to be very good because we have some wild orchids around here - definitely they needed to stay in the ground where they belonged. Still a daisy, dandelion and  elderflower bouquet can actually look very pretty.

On Sunday husband, son and I went over to parents house for lunch and to see dad for his Birthday (which was last week) and fathers day.

My mother definitely falls into category of feeder (like I can talk after what I mentioned I made for Dad), the food just kept coming and coming. She was determined nothing would be left so forced everybody to have about 4 portions.

By the time we left I could barely walk I was so full. Then just like Christmas, inexplicably by the time we got home (about 1 hour 15 minute drive) I was hungry again.

Needless to say I'm now on a diet. I'm really going to try to stick to this one. I did really well when I was on furlough, when I didn't have the stress of work - what does that tell you.

Just a a short one this week. Keep it clean and simple.
