It's my 22nd Wedding Anniversary today. How on earth did that happen.
Like the t-shirt says - it's strange being the same age as old people!
So 22 years ago today I was already extremely tiddly and had a new husband (though we'd been together for 4 years before we were married). I was heading for the seafront to drink champagne at Al Fresco (no longer there). After which we had lunch at the China Garden (still there) and a month later we had a huge party with friends at the Fishbowl (no longer there).
New husband and I had our first flat together and the only responsibility we had was our goldfish Engleburt (RIP, but only just).
Fast forward 22 years and we have son and dog and lots of other fish (our big fish tank was ironically our wedding present from our friends).
My house is a constant tip with dog and son dropping things where they stand. I'm worried about things like broken roof tiles, bad backs and I'm having physio for arthritus.
But what a journey it's been. Would I have changed things - OF COURSE I BLOOMIN WOULD - but only if my husband, son and dog were part of that same journey. So it's not all bad huh.
On top of that husband gave me a 500ml gravy boat as my present - I broke our previous one a month ago and I've had a million poor internet purchases since then. So I was hugely thrilled with my 500ml gravy boat - what have I become.
Husband wants to know where I'd like to go tonight. I believe that money is no limit (there is a challenge I'd like to take). I'd actually like to have a night in asleep with no interruption. But I'll come up with something we can do that at least gives us a memory. It doesn't need to be a big thing. It'll be nice for it to just be the two of us.
So chin chin - here's to another 22!
Happy Anniversary for yesterday my friend. I think you need to a feature blog on “ 22 best ever anniversary presents “…….just saying!
