After last week's excitement summer is still not here. But once again I have hope.
Though probably useful as I can't get to back garden to water it right now. The builders turned up last week and started work on the patio. The first thing they did was rip out the broken wooden steps from patio to garden. This is no small thing because without them there is a hefty wall to scale to actually get into the garden.
They worked really hard all week. After all this effort the patio looks like a badly maintained swimming pool. Hopefully they will be done by end of week.
If you are wondering why it looks so bad the walls previously had climbers on them. Anyway watch this space.
I had Friday off to spend time with son. Its hard to find something to engage a 14 year old. In the end I found a treasure hunt around Battle near Hastings. (Where 1066 happened - obv it happened nowhere else). Picture at top of post is Battle Abbey.
The hunt was on an app. You did it alone.
We had intended to leave at about 11am but the people came to fit solar panels at 08.00 and then the people working on back garden turned up at 08.15. Instantly hammering and drilling. Needless to say we left home by 09.30!
We were hopeless at hunt. We are both unobservant and can't be bothered with puzzles. There were 18 clues. It took us 30 minuted to identify the start point of the hunt. Not a good sign. We identified 5 items and unravelled 3 clues. Then got bored and gave up.
We also got distracted by an antique shop with coins. It had Roman coins so I was able to buy one for son. I had intended to give him one I had been given at his age. It was supposed to be his when we took him to Rome for his birthday last year, but I couldn't find it.
So I let him pick one out he liked and he is now the proud owner.
On Sunday we headed for Goring beach. Brother in law has a beach hut.
Weather looks lovely but there were high winds and it was freezing.
Whole of husband's family came including kids I say kids.... they are all in their 30s and came with their partners and kids. That still freaks me out as in my brain they are still 12.
There is another wedding coming up. Its not that the fact they are getting married that freaks me out its the fact that they are not even young to get married.
There have been wildfires in Hawaii terrifying stories in the news. It is a very strange and scary summer.
