My foot has gone black and blue after last week's accident, but actually apart from the moment as I slip my foot into a shoe it's really not that painful. So yay!
I have felt quite rotten this week, son has too - but so far husband has got away with it. Personally I'm absolutely convinced it was COVID - it felt like COVID and went on for as long as COVID, but the tests told me it wasn't. I wonder if it's a new strain that doesn't show up. Anyway, for the first time in 10 days my temperatures is on half a degree of kilter, so hopefully I'm on the mend.
Added to this the weather has been bleak this week. The wind has blown all the leaves from the trees and it's just been constant rain.
On Wednesday I was on the loo and I heard a dripping noise (don't panic, I'm not about to go into too much information). Looking up I saw a brown stain on the ceiling. I went up into the attic and low and behold there was a drip coming through from the upper roof. We've put a pot on it and are hoping that somebody will come and take a look at it. The problem is that if we need the professionals in we'll end up needing scaffolding. That's when it starts to get expensive.
Plus we had such a bad experience with the scaffolders for the windows and for the solar panels I really don't want scaffolders anywhere near my house ever again.
I've recently signed up as a mentor for the Girls network. This is a great idea, it's where old farts like myself mentor a 15 year old school girl to help them get ready for a great career. We went and met the girls who had been put forward by a local school and I've been connected to one of them. She seems really nice. I have my fingers crossed it works out.
Next weekend I'm super busy and would also like to go and do something with son because husband is away. In the middle of the following week is December. So much to my husband's irritation I have spent much of today putting up our Christmas decorations.
Pretty much all done, with the exception of son's Christmas Tree topper, which seems to have mysteriously disappeared. Hopefully it will turn up.
It's pheasant season - I got 2 lovely pheasants from the butchers yesterday. Now all I have to do is to remember how to cook them. The bones make a lovely soup afterwards as well. Exciting!
