Well thanks for that

Storm Ciaran is due to hit the south coast of England today. If you listen to the news they are portraying it like the end of the world.... time will tell.

I woke up this morning, rain was lashing down, the wind was blowing and the trees were creaking. I put on the radio to find out if there was anything worth knowing and took a look at the local paper reports. Suddenly I heard that the storm was lashing the coast of Shoreham. Shoreham is just along the coast from me.

I was wondering what to do with the dog today. As she's young if she doesn't get a walk we will all suffer as she starts climbing up walls. I decided that if the storm was going to be with us for the day and the worst of it was on its way things were only going to get worse. So I got into raincoat and muffled up and dog and I went for a  walk. With a plan to be home in time for the worst of the storm.

I have to say I was the only person out walking the dog - I didn't see another soul (well that wasn't in a car). There hadn't been much damage overnight - just one fence panel down. Fence panels are usually the things that get ravaged around here in storms - not much between us and the sea winds because we're on a hill.

At several points during the walk huge gusts almost took me off my feet and at one point the rain was so heavy I started to look for somewhere dog and I could shelter, but we ploughed on.

Managed to get dog to the rec, but didn't go through the woods in case the trees were dodgy (we have problems with Ash dieback around here). Once at the rec I threw  the ball for about 5 minutes. Then suddenly from nowhere there was this enormous roar. I've literally no idea what that roar was, there was no sign of additional wind or anything really - seriously strange (maybe there's a t-rex in the woods).

Anyway, thinking it was best I clipped on dogs lead and took her home back in the roaring wind and pouring ran.

Once home I made myself a hot coffee. I'm looking out of the window now. The chuffing sun is shining and the wind has dropped!!!!!!
