Yes I know it hasn't been a week, but as life is hectic at the moment and a stuff has happened I thought I would post early. Then if I forget next week at least I jotted down some of my happenings.
As you can see from image, I'm in a witchy mood at the moment, these little witchy quotes are making me happy.
I've also got a new sweatshirt with the quote "They whispered to her you cannot withstand the storm, she whispered back I am the storm." That's also making me happy.
A few things inspired me to post.
Yesterday morning I started work super early, the internet was not playing ball at all. Once husband woke up I asked him to take a look (I have no idea how to do that). Turns out that when son finished getting ready for school he decided the best idea would be to download a game so when he got back from school it was ready for him. Completely disregarding the fact both of his parents work from home! Needless to say he was very disappointed when he got back from school.
Since early December about 50 projects have been thrown a my team and there are more coming in every day. I keep saying that we don't have capacity, but they keep coming back to me. So yesterday I spent the day deep in excel to create a spreadsheet showing all the activity we have and who it is allocated to. I started that activity trying to demonstrate that we were fully booked until June. Actually it turns out that we are fully booked until October! That's a somewhat startling revelation in January.
After work yesterday I drove to Lewes, where son goes to school. I'd arranged to meet him outside a fish and chip shop - he'd gone out for pizza with a friend after school (forgetting his wallet - thanks friends mom for covering the cost!). I arrived about 20 mins early and it was a drizzly day - so I decided to pop into fish and chip shop and buy a coffee - basically so I could sit down and wait out of the drizzle.
It was clearly the first time anybody had ever asked for a coffee - it created quite a spin as they had to work out where the coffee was and how to make one. Though it wasn't too bad. In the end I decided not to sit in the chippy as I'd end up stinking of frying oil, but they had a few tables outside under cover. So I sat outside of the chippy with my coffee, looking very sophisticated!
The reason I was meeting son was because he's off on a school trip coming up. It was to get all the logistics. For their GCSE they are studying second world war and the cold war, so the trip is all around this. Quite a grim trip to be honest, but it will be great for their study.
I did have another startling moment, when they were talking about the Berlin Wall and what was happening at the point of time the wall came down. I remember thinking, hang on I was about son's age when that happened!
So once again - it turns out that my life is now considered history!
The other startling fact was, despite the fact the trip is costing us as much as a whole family holiday - it turns out food was not included. As a result of this we need to provide son with £40 a day for food. He's off for 5 days - so that's another £200 we need to find from somewhere. I just assumed they'd included food in the cost of the trip - especially given the fact the trip was so expensive. They are staying in bunkbeds - 6 to a room. I'm failing to see where the exorbitant cost is being spent. I suspect the teachers who are taking them will be staying in 5* accommodation and drinking champagne every day.
Hey ho.
