Out and about

Last week I listed the multiple things I needed to do during the week.

I did achieve all of those, plus some extra bits. I went to the doctor (not about HRT), I've had a blister on my toe since about August. I thought it was a cyst, but they are adamant it's just a blister (a little embarrassing). Anyway, it's burst twice and healed, but keeps coming back.

I've got one of those blister plasters on it now, let's see if that helps it to go away. I've recently changed my walking boots, those are about the only shoes I regularly wear as I'm barefoot the rest of the time. I wonder if I can get rid of the blister whether my new walking shoes will mean that the blister doesn't come back.

I admit I'm not convinced by the diagnosis, but if I treat it as a blister I wait to be proved wrong. I usually am.

As soon as I got back from the doctor I picked up dog and we walked to the vet. I realised that since son was born I really don't go out and about much at night. It was a nice walk, just night time. As I walked through the area I live the shops were shutting up and there was much hustle and bustle.

Before I got pregnant we lived in another area of town. A much busier area. I worked in the centre of town and used to walk in. I really enjoyed that walk, it was interesting, the shops were opening up and the world was coming alive. That same walk wouldn't be the same from where I am now. It's a lot more remote.

Anyway, I took the picture of the windmill on that walk, I thought it looked rather lovely, but I have a cheap phone and so the photo doesn't really do the scene justice. Plus the dog was hauling on the lead so it was difficult to take a decent picture.

Dog got a clean bill of health on her claw, which is great news and I managed to get her scent glands cleared out whilst I was in there, so that saves £25 next month. Though the joint account has taken quite a thrashing this month with the other vet bills.

On Saturday I had quite a quiet day, just went to the butchers and walked dog and then did some work towards my qualification. In the evening we went to see some friends that we haven't seen for yonks. They spend most of their life in Crete now. They have a really nice villa out there that the purchased years ago. Now they have retired they live their normal life out out there. I'm quite jealous.

I've mentioned before that it's tough because we have a lot of older friends and pretty much all of our friends and family have either retired or continue to work because they love their jobs. We are in a different situation. Because I had son late we are still nose to the grindstone and work full time. There's no end in sight and it's getting somewhat exhausing.

It was a landmark night though - the first time son was in the house on his own when husband and I went out. I was most impressed that by the time we came home he had gone to bed. Though he admitted a car pulled up at 10:30pm and he assumed it was us so got into bed in around 2 minutes flat.

For 13 years I worked a 4 day week. My day off was busy with life laundry, but now I work a 5 day week that life laundry just never gets done.

Husband and son finished their leaflets on Saturday - I did warn them that the next lot would turn up as soon as they finished. Sure enough the next lot were delivered on Sunday.

As we arrived back really late I ended up falling asleep on the sofa, in my rather fetching pajamas. I'm not very together with pj's. It's usually a scruffy pair of leggings and an old sweatshirt that's frayed at the edges, but nice and soft through age.

I was a bit embarrassed when the doorbell rang and woke me up - I answered the door in my PJ's and it was the man who we get the leaflets from. He saw me in my dodgy PJ glory. What was worse was I glanced at the clock and it was 10:00am!

Anyway, I proceeded to organise leaflets with magazines - just mine and then went out and delivered for 2 hours. After which I went back to studying for my qualification. I finished just in time to make supper for the family.

It would be nice to have a day when I was bored.
