I didn't post last week because for some reason I felt that it might be tempting fate for the safety of my son. I thought if I wrote and was all excited for him something bad would happen. I know that's odd, but it is what it is.
Why - you ask..... (well, you might have).
The last 2 weeks have been something of a blur. The week before last was all about work and prepping son for a school trip to Berlin. I've mentioned before that because of COVID this was going to be his first extended time away from me.
I was understandably nervous because now he's older, during the day he will have been chaperoned by teachers, but in the evening they essentially kicked them out to find supper on their own with an instruction to be back in the hotel by 21:00. That was the bit I was nervous about.
Son was all ready and packed and I had instructions to drop him off at school. At 04:15. As if that wasn't bad enough it was the same night that the clocks changed. So essentially I needed to leave home at what the day before would have been 02:30!
So I set my alarm for the new 02:30 in an effort to flood myself with coffee before we headed off. I woke son at 03:00 and he got himself ready. Obviously we drove to his school without hitch - we were pretty much the only car on the road. Once I'd dropped him off I headed home.
I went back to sleep and woke up at 12:00 - something of a shock - the whole day had gone! I also needed to do some work on a qualification I am working on. Though I did manage to fit in a nice lunch in Elate down by the seafront. Along with husband - a nice treat.
To blow the opportunity for husband and I to actually do anything together as we were alone during son's trip - at 06:00 on Tuesday morning I headed to Fareham for work. Where I spent the next few days interviewing about 6 people. I find interviewing exhausting because you have to stay so on point.
Though it was worth it because we did find 3 good people. Let's hope they accept.
The problem with my toe persists - I've booked another doctors appointment, hopefully we can get things sorted this time. Though the appointment is not for another 2 weeks.
On the subject of health I also had the delights of the dental hygienist - my goodness I hate those sessions. Though it's always nice to have the present of a polish at the end of the session.
Needless to say son is now home already - I picked him up on Thursday. He wasn't as grumpy as I thought he would be. He also did pretty well with his purchasing whilst he was away. Not wasting much at all and he came home with 2 bits of the Berlin wall that he'd sensibly purchased from museums so he didn't get sold a bit of an old back wall from somebody dodgy.
Very proud of son - though it turns out he lived on burgers for a week! If that's the worst of it then I consider myself lucky.
