Gosh I am even older

This week was my birthday. I was also on holiday from work.

I have been desperate for a break for so long. The odd days off didn't help. It needed to be something longer.

However I has a lot of chores on my list. On top of that son's magazines turned up for delivery.

It was my birthday on Wednesday. I was determined that would be a relaxing day. So the first thing I did was wash son and my weekend clothes. Then on Monday I rolled up sleeves and and sorted front garden. Then tidied house. On Tuesday I sorted leaflets with magazines and delivered 250 of them. Then prepped some food so I wouldn't need to cook on Wednesday.

Wednesday was birthday. A lovely day. Once family were up they made me breakfast and we got ready for lunch out. We went into Brighton to my favorite restaurant Gingerman. Even better my brother turned up to join us.

Gingerman was amazing as ever. Though I was sad to see it seems to be struggling. Pre COVID you needed to book at least 3 months in advance. I was able to book a fortnight in advance. Then the whole time we were there we were the only people in there.

It only has 8 tables, but usually it is rammed out. The food was as good as ever so I am not sure what's happened.

Is it because everybody is now obsessed with small plates? I hate those places. Totally overpriced and just more effort than necessary. I hope that fad ends soon.

Once we had eaten we headed home. Where I chilled out and then later in the day the boys made asparagus and palma ham, which we had with a smoked salmon mousse I had made the day before. A perfect light supper after a heavy lunch.

Thursday life went back to normal. I took dog out for walk and once again cleaner didn't turn up so I cleaned house.

Then we were at Friday and for the first time I could have a reasonably lazy day.

Aware Saturday would be busy I prepped 3 dishes for supper on Saturday.

Saturday arrived. Son and I are away next week. So I packed our bags and then got things ready for friends in evening.

And here we are Sunday. I need to finish packing and then this afternoon drive to son and my hotel in Fareham (more about this next week).

Husband is also in bad mood because he is staying home and so has to walk dog for week.

So my holiday is over. I never did get a full lazy day. #FML
