Son's 16th is coming up. He will want something substantial, but that will involve money so nothing to open. As a result I have purchased a few little bits and bobs to add excitement.
Most turned up expect one item that I purchased on Ebay. I chased it and got snarky response from seller implying I was lying. Hackles up, I ignored.
The next day I got a message from post office saying I owed £5 on a package sent to me. I duly paid this. The package turned up the next day. It was the ebay package. This means I have now spent £8 postage on a £5 item!
Now mistakes happen so I decided the hassle of chasing repayment would not be worth it, but messaged seller to explain.
The vitriol and mistrust that came back was nasty. Passive aggressive and accusatory.
It's a shame for them actually. They sell antique coins an ideal ongoing gift for history loving son. They just lost a customer.
It's also p'd me off big time.
Why is nothing ever simple!
Apart from that quiet week. On Sunday mum and dad came over for lunch. Son went off to beach to paddleboard with friends. They are growing up. On positive note he thought he had fallen out with a friend before end of term. Friend was at beach and all is good.
I am pleased too because his friend is a nice kid. Everybody wants their kids to have nice friends. #happymummy
Ooh and I get my ILM coaching qualification certificate last week. Another string to my bow. Hooray!
I am utterly shameful: A few days after this initial post I suddenly remembered the most significant thing that happened in the week!!! It was my 23rd wedding anniversary. As the official purchase for this is 'silver plate' things were challenging. I told husband if he purchased anything silver plated the marriage was over.
In the end he purchased me 4 paper plates that were silver (that doesn't count, the marriage survives) and I purchased him a 'Round TUIT''. Something I thought was hilarious and he didn't think was so funny. Google it - it's not my joke!
In the evening husband, son and I went to our favourite restaurant Gingerman. The food there is so amazing and it's relaxed but it always feels like an occasion. Obviously helped by the fact that for once I wasn't driving and so enjoyed my meal with a Side Car cocktail.
It was great actually, for starter son and I had enormous grilled prawns and I taught him how to shell them himself. I feel that's part of growing up. For main I had duck and husband and son had beef. Then for pud son had a souffle and husband and I shared a cheeseboard.
Yummy.
Once we returned home dog went absolutely psycho - she's not used to being left alone.
Anyway, I'm glad I remedied that one. I considered leaving it until next week's post, but it would have been terrible if I'd forgotten it!
