This is clearly going to be one of those periods of my life.
I spent much of the weekend analysing documents relating to the football pitches and writing a response to share with the planning department. On Saturday night we had our first Christmas meal (turkey and all trimmings). Six of us in total. It went really well.
On Sunday I was relaxing, having written the documents and finished the Christmas meal and everything had been tidied up. There was a huge storm going on all through Saturday, which had continued into Sunday.
Suddenly there was the loudest roar as a huge gust of wind blew. This was rapidly followed by a terrifying rumble and crash. A minute later my phone rang and it was my neighbour telling me to come outside. The entire wall that is between the stairs of my house and the stairs of my neighbour had been blown over into their footwell.
They are about 10 foot lower than our house, the wall was about 50 foot long!
Anyway, 30 mins later we discovered that our buildings insurance had lapsed!!!!! Word got around and our neighbours were amazing. Somebody got a van and people helped us to get the rubble into the back of that. Then another neighbour owns a bricklaying company and they agreed to do the work at cost. Hopefully, this means it will be back up again soon. There is currently a terrifying 10 foot drop just outside our kitchen door.
Amazingly only limited damage was done to next doors house. A broken pipe and a broken window ledge. It could have been a lot worse and thank goodness nobody was in the alley when it happened.
On the Monday husband and I had the day off, we went out for lunch, but for obvious reasons a much cheaper lunch than we'd originally anticipated!!!!! Still it was nice to go out together and particularly nice to be able to forget about our house and the area around it, even if it was just for a brief spell.
So I'm hoping that's the 3 things now. The wall, the football pitches and.... I forget what the third thing was, but there definitely was. I'll have to read back through my blog to remind myself.
