A raging bonfire

The day after son finished GCSEs we had planned a memorable moment.

A few weeks before I had purchased a burner. Husband wasn't happy because it would be difficult to get rid of. Turned out it wasn't because when it turned up it was about a foot high. One of THOSE Internet purchases. Explains why it was so cheap.

So I made hot dogs and jacket potatos and we started the burner. Son then burnt the books he wouldn't return to. We tried to burn his school trousers bit they just put the fire out. Probably a good thing our kids are not wandering about in flammable clothes.

Once done we melted marshmallows for smores (spelling, no idea, American thing).

Important thing was son had a great time.

I had warned neighbours in advance so we didn't fill the house with smoke. We managed all this within the promised one hour timeslot yay.

You will notice state of patio. As son does not like strangers or new things we had agreed he would be our gardener for summer. We waited patiently for exams to finish. Garden getting worse and worse. Then son decided to have a week off.

We are now waiting impatiently for him to pull his thumb out of his butt. He is about to discover that having a job is having a job. It's not something you do on a whim.

On Saturday we went shopping for his prom suit. Cutting it fine as it's in 2 weeks. We found a nice one and he looks great. Very grown up. We are now waiting for a tie and waistcoat to arrive in post. If they look OK they are all set.

Husband will drive him to prom. Nobody should turn up in my skip.

That's all the news this week. It feels like nothing happened, but I think that's enough!
