Work was.... ok.
I don't think anything particularly stressful or exciting happened at home!
So I will share the stuff that I can actually remember..................... here we go.
At work I managed to make great strides with some of the big things that have been giving me desk stress. Nothing exciting enough to put down in here, but a relief to have some of those motoring along.
At home, son has got bored of being on constant holiday, having given up school after finishing his GCSE's. Imagine my surprise to hear him strumming away at his guitar for the first time in 5 years. Technically it's my guitar because it was the one I had at school (I was rubbish at it). It was too big for him when he said he wanted to learn guitar so we got him a 3/4 size one. That never got used!
He's now far too big for is 3/4 sized one and so it was my school guitar that he picked up.
This causes problems. The guitars have been in the sitting room in a small gap between the fish and a bookcase. As a result there's a horrible mess on the wall in that gap. I'm not sure if it's damp or dust, but unless that guitar goes back there's going to need to be some redecoration.
I'm confident that the guitar will be rapidly unused, so before I get a paintbrush out I'll hold out to see if the guitar gets put back in that slot. Watch this space.
I've got into a new habit of taking the dog down to the seafront for early morning walks, if the tide is out. It's been lovely. But obviously the mornings will get dark soon, so likely this habit will be lost. But maybe I can sort things out for lunchtime walks in the winter (it will never happen).
Further along the beach there are some huge rockpools. After our summer holiday dog has suddenly got into living by the sea. After 4 years of not being interested and being too timid to enjoy the water. She still will not go into the actual sea, but the big rockpools are a different thing. She's learnt that she can swim and if you throw a stone in she'll leap into the water and then just start swimming around. It's lovely to see.
Her discovery of swimming happened in Westward Ho! Husband and son had gone out surfing and dog was quite distraught that they had gone. She threw herself into the sea and struck out towards the surfers. After the 4th big wave crashed over her she lost her bottle and headed home, but I guess now anything that's not that scary seems like small fry.
Saturday afternoon son actually helped me prepare supper, it was lovely spending time with him. It also genuinely made the cook easier. My brain is telling me that something else happened during the day on Saturday, but for the life of me I can't remember what - ah oh yes. I had my hair cut in the morning. Don't worry I'm not going to tell you about that. But this meant I didn't have time to take dog out first thing. So we actually all went out as a family and had a walk along the beach.
The area I live in is hilarious at this time of year. In Brighton it's pride and every year the area I live decides to go into competition with an old style village fair, punch and judy and everything. It always makes me giggle.
As a result we drove to Saltdean Lido rather than going to the seafront in my area. Everybody was in Brighton (and quite a few in our village actually) so it was quite empty. For me it was just nice to have some company for the walk.
On Sunday some old friends turned up (Barbara and Peter). Years ago Barbara and I started to do Tai Chi together. I wanted to do it because I felt it would calm me down. It was so complicated that actually it massively stressed me out. Peter was our Tai Chi teacher. There was a spark between Barbara and Peter immediately so I felt no guilt about stopping the lessons and leaving Barbara to continue the lessons alone.
It took them about 10 years, but eventually the two of them hooked up and now they are married.
It was lovely to see them. As far as entertainment was concerned we went for a long long walk along the seafront.
Anyway, not the most exciting week. Plenty of walking.
Today's picture was on the way back from my early morning walk on Sunday morning (before Barbs and Peter turned up). That Red Admiral was so happy in the sunshine. It posed for me for about 5 mins as I faddled around to get a decent picture. Then suddenly a wasp came down heading straight for the butterfly and scared it off.
Even insects hate wasps!!!!!
