Dad had his op. They didn't give him a general in the end, just a local. This was good news because, as I said, I didn't think he'd wake up from a general. However, this did mean that he want through a pretty grotty process with just a local anasthetic, so it's knocked him for 6.
Mum and I went to collect him from the hospital and at first thought they hadn't removed the growth. What they'd replaced it with was a sponge that looked like a brown external brain. Rather revolting looking actually. But essentially it's there to protect his head.
He goes in again in a week to have it looked at and perhaps removed, we're not quite sure at the moment.
So on Tuesday I attended an all day meeting at work (though arranged with boss that actually I'd attend remotely). Then when that ended I got in the car and drove to my parents house (about 1 1/4 hours away) and then from there mum and I headed to the hospital about an hour away.
I stayed with them until Dad was home, hung around for a bit and then headed home.
I spent the rest of the week feeling drained, I think probably because of the Adrenaline (spelling). So if I wasn't working I was sleeping.
But the most important thing is that dad made it through.
Today son is off doing the tank driving that we purchased as his 18th birthday present. Hopefully having a good time. I had to stay home with the dog. Part of me would have liked to have watched and another part of me things it would have been pretty boring. However, the important thing is that son likes it so let's keep fingers crossed.
